You must use caution when purchasing toys for your ferret. Never purchase a latex rubber toy, as they will tear it up, and possibly ingest pieces of the latex. If this happens, they are at high risk of intestinal obstruction, which can be fatal if not quickly treated. Cloth toys pose the same risk, because the ferret will use his sharp teeth to tear the cloth.
Harder rubber balls that bounce make great toys. Rope toys are also great. PVC pipe will entertain your ferret. You can prop one end up on the couch and watch him run up the couch and slide down the ‘slide’ over and over again. Just remember that ferrets are extremely energetic, and playing is important to their physical and mental well-being. Toys don’t have to be expensive, but they are needed.
