The Food Your Giving To Your Dog Measure Up
Almost, all dog owners dont stop to consider the value of the dog food they
buy for their canine friends. They never keep any type of records of their dog's
growth, and continue to buy the dog food that their dog seems to like. This is
not a good idea because it may not give the dog what he needs nutritionally.
Moreover, it is usually the house wife that buys the dog food, and most likely
she is making her decision based on price instead of nutritional value.
You should never base the type of dog food you get your dog by some commercial
you seen on TV, it should be properly researched and purchased due to
nutritional value. I mean, think about it, a dog food ad or commercial has one
reason to be airing and that is to sell you their product, so they're more
concerned about the packaging and how well it sells. I know all companies have
to make money and do their best to sell it, but not all dog food is created
equal, just remember you are the only hope your dog has, and what you get him is
what he has to eat.
Another misconception dog owners have is thinking their dog will like what they
like, or that what they eat is nutritionally valuable to the dog. Just because
you like gravy on your food doesn't mean your dog will like it. Another
misconception is all your dog needs is meat, if all a dog gets is meat he could
die from calcium deficiency from an all-meat diet. Man and dog are different,
and should be treated differently, you may like barbecue, but your dog will like
rotten squirrel.
You should never base how fast or how well your dog eats his food as a good food
source, most dogs when hungry will eat just about anything, and I do mean
anything. But just because they will eat it does not mean it is healthy or
contains the right amount of nutrients the dogs body needs. This is where a lot
of healthy looking dogs die for no reason at all.
Like I said before, just do your homework, research the food and make sure it is
the right food for your dog, keep up with his age and weigh him weekly as he is
growing into an adult dog. All this plays a role in the food you should be
providing for your canine friend.
Remember your dog is depending on you to help keep him healthy and living a
long, healthy, and happy life.
