The 5 Most Usual Food Sources For Dogs
Eggs: Eggs are great for dogs for a couple of reasons, they are high in
protein, they are a good source of quality fat, and have an excellent source of
nutrients.
Regardless of the amount of eggs or where they are gathered from, an egg should
not be fed to dogs raw. Raw egg whites rob a dog's system of biotin, and will
promote vomiting. A dog should only be fed two plain, scrambled eggs once a
week.
Milk: There has been a lot of controversy about feeding milk to dogs. Diarrhea
has been a known cause by milk. This problem has been caused when milk is given
in large amounts, but if milk is limited to around two ounces of dry milk per
pound of food, you will have fewer problems experienced.
When being fed in limited amounts, milk, outweighs the risk of sickness. Milk
provides calcium and phosphorus to your dog in the correct ratio and amounts,
along with a correct amount of vitamins, and protein, which has the value of a
whole egg.
Cottage cheese: This is somewhat, more than that major protein portion of milk.
Since the lacto albumin, normally available in whole milk, has been depleted in
the whey, cottage cheese does not contain the exact value as whole milk does.
The value of protein in cottage cheese is compared greatly with that of meat
from a horse.
Cottage cheese can be offered as an inexpensive, and cheap source of protein for
a dog.
Cheese: Cheese is a dairy product created from casein. Just remember that cheese
contains a huge amount of fat. This fat makes cheese a favorable source of
energy, and protein. Cheeses are along the line of the more expensive sources of
protein for feeding dogs. If you were willing to spend more money, cheese would
be a premium consideration.
Fish: This is not usually used in a diet for dogs, Although, there is not any
reason that it would need to be eliminated as one protein source for your dog.
In fact, fish protein is definitely ranked as one of the best proteins for the
money. You should always make sure that the fish is cooked before feeding it to
your dog. The heat is what kills a chemical located in a lot of fish. This
chemical will destroy vitamin B1 (thiamine) if left undone.
